Presented by the Independence Park Institute at Independence National Historical Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

discovering-history

In July 2008, Independence National Historical Park will host a one-week workshop that will enable 4th-12th grade teachers to discover how historians and archeologists piece together the lives of everyday Philadelphia citizens through the artifacts they left behind. Participants will learn what archeology is and what it is not. They will go through the archeological process, discover what historians can learn through archeology, and what is done with the new information. Educators will get to interact with historians, archeologists, curators, museum educators, and other professionals in the field. This institute is limited to twenty participants. The application deadline is March 28, 2008.

**This application [pdf] must be completed, signed by your building principal, department chair, supervisor, or curriculum coordinator, and postmarked by March 28, 2008.
